Letter: Resolution is disingenuous

The Columbian
Published: October 22, 2013, 5:00pm

Let’s get real. Commissioner David Madore’s proposed resolution, reported in the Oct. 16 story, “Madore: Elected officials owe voters apology,” relating to the Columbia River Crossing/C-Tran decision, is not at all an appropriate way to address his personal disagreement with that decision. If the decision was improper, as Commissioner Madore believes, there are procedures in place to investigate and correct any impropriety. We don’t need a single commissioner grandstanding by proposing this resolution. However, this resolution will probably pass given the M&M Boys partnership. This resolution is being proposed by a commissioner who totally ignored long-standing policies and procedures in the hiring of our environmental director despite an outcry from the public in opposition to this hiring. I guess his mantra is “Don’t do as I do; do as I say.”

I would encourage everyone who disagrees with this resolution to attend the public hearings when it is on the agendas and express their opinions.
