A weapons disturbance call in the area of East 18th Street and Norris Road in Vancouver on Tuesday morning was resolved without incident.

Vancouver police were called to the area at about 11:30 a.m. for a report of a man who had pointed a pistol at two men who were allegedly caught in the act of stealing mail, according to police spokeswoman Kim Kapp.

The man told officers that he had seen the two suspects take mail out of his neighbor’s mailbox and went to confront them, Kapp said.

The two suspects then approached the man, described as older and having disabilities. The man felt threatened, pulled his weapon (for which he has a concealed weapon permit) and told them to put the mail back, Kapp said.

The two mail theft suspects returned the mail and fled, Kapp said. Responding officers searched the area but did not locate the suspects.

The man who pulled the weapon was not cited or arrested.
