Two arrested after firing of rifle at apartment complex

An Oregon man is accused of pointing a rifle at a woman during a drunken shooting rampage early Saturday at a Washougal apartment complex.

No one was injured in the incident.

Jonathan A. Henriquez, 24, of Beaverton, Ore., appeared Monday in Clark County Superior Court on suspicion of first-degree assault.

Judge Barbara Johnson held him in the Clark County Jail in lieu of $100,000 bail and appointed the Vancouver Defenders law firm to defend him.

He is scheduled to be arraigned on the charges Dec. 19.

According to court records, the woman called 911 at 6:22 a.m. to report a man brandishing a weapon at the Lookout at the Ridge Apartments, 354 Lookout Ridge Drive. The woman reported that she saw two men carrying an assault-type rifle and a rifle with a scope and heard rapid gunshots fired. She said that one of the men pointed the rifle directly at her, according to a court affidavit by Washougal police Sgt. Bradley Chicks. When the woman threatened to call police, the two men went inside an apartment unit, Chicks wrote.

Witnesses said that the two suspects were heavily intoxicated at the time.

Police located the suspects inside a unit in the apartment complex. When contacted by police, the suspects allegedly refused to cooperate and open the door. Out of safety concerns, police forced entry into the residence and they arrested the two suspects, Chicks wrote.

Henriquez was arrested on suspicion of first-degree assault for allegedly pointing a gun at the woman. Kyle R. Adkisson, 23, was arrested on suspicion of misdemeanor reckless endangerment, unlawfully aiming or discharging a firearm, and obstructing a law enforcement officer. A hearing had not yet been scheduled Monday for his case.

Investigators found 22 cases and rounds and an assault rifle magazine inside the apartment’s bathroom and thousands of rounds of ammunition inside a closet near the bathroom, according to court records.
