The Clark College men’s basketball team rebounded from a tough loss on Saturday night with a 106-65 win over the Concordia JV squad on Sunday afternoon at the O’Connell Center.

Clark (4-2) was coming off an 89-76 loss at Mt. Hood the night before and found the cure in Sunday’s game with six Penguins scoring in double figures.

Evan Garrison led the way with 17 points and six assists. Darrius Mathis had 16 points and eight rebounds. Bryan Berg and Hayden Hall each had 12 points, Antony Dunn had 11 and Orlando Vance had 10 points and eight rebounds.

Clark outrebounded the Cavaliers 53-32, and scored 16 points off turnovers.

“Darrius set the tone for us defensively,” Clark coach Alex Kirk said.

Tyler Gutierrez led Concordia with 18 points. Prairie High grad James Phillips scored eight.

Next for Clark is a crossover tournament at Clackamas. The Penguins open with Spokane at 3 p.m. Thursday, and then will face either Chemeketa or Skagit Valley on Friday. The eight-team event concludes on Saturday.
