Girls basketball: La Center 54, Battle Ground 41

A second-half surge carried the Wildcats to a non-league win over the host Tigers. La Center outscored Battle Ground 32-18 after halftime.

Katie Whitten had 21 points, eight assists and six steals to lead the way for the Wildcats (6-1).

Taylor Mills scored eight of her 10 points in the third quarter, when La Center outscored Battle Ground 20-10. She also grabbed a team-high eight rebounds in the game.

Andrea Griffee hit four 3-pointers for the Wildcats and finished with 14 points. Bethany Whitten made seven steals and Shelby Vermuelen had seven rebounds.

Jossilyn Blackman led the Tigers with 14 points.
