Strong winds, gusts up to 55 mph expected for region

The National Weather Service in Portland has issued a strong winds advisory for the region, including Vancouver and much of Clark County, starting tonight at 10 p.m.

Expect winds of 20 to 35 miles per hour, with gusts between 40 and 55 miles per hour, to continue through Thursday.

The strongest winds should be 5 p.m. Wednesday to 5 a.m. Thursday, with the advisory continuing until 10 p.m. Thursday.

There may be scattered power outages during those times as well.

The service also predicts temperatures dropping to 10 to 15 degrees below normal this week, with highs of 39 degrees Tuesday, 27 degrees Wednesday and 27 degrees Thursday. Forecasted lows for those days are 20 degrees Tuesday night, 17 degrees Wednesday night and 14 degrees Thursday night.

A high of 30 and a low of 18 degrees is predicted for Friday, and a high of 28 degrees and possible significant snowfall is predicted for Saturday.
