Foss’ defensive pressure forced 24 turnovers as Prairie’s season ended with the loss in the 3A bi-district tournament game at Rogers High School in Puyallup.

The team from Tacoma used its pressure defense to jump to an 18-3 lead. Prairie pulled within five late in the second quarter, but Foss led by 11 at halftime and put the game away with a big third quarter.

Guard Armond Davis scored 15 of his 29 points during the third quarter, when Foss outscored Prairie 23-10 to pull away. Davis made all nine of his free throws in the game.

James Phillips scored 21 points for the Prairie.

“I am very proud of how our kids competed and fought back after getting behind early,” Prairie coach Kyle Brooks said. “That was the best pressure (defense) we had seen all year and one of the best teams we’ve faced all year.”

Phillips and Mason Pack were the only seniors on this Prairie squad, which finished the season 12-11.

Ronnie McPherson had 11 points and eight rebounds for Prairie.
