Nominees for high school winter sports athlete of the week, sponsored by Athletes Corner, for the two-week period ending Jan. 4. Voting will conclude at 8 p.m. Thursday with results published in Friday's Columbian.

CHERITA DAUGHERTY, PRAIRIE GIRLS BASKETBALL: Daugherty averaged 14 points a game and was selected the MVP of the Surf Division of the Surf 'N Slam Tournament in San Diego. She then added 19 points in a win over Union.

CODY GROMES, UNION BOYS WRESTLING: Gromes won the 195-pound division at the Pac Coast Championships helping the Titans place third overall.

ALAN HAAGEN, HOCKINSON BOYS BASKETBALL: Haagen averaged 16 points a game, including the title-winning 3-pointer, was selected the MVP of the San Diego Division of the Surf 'N Slam Tournament in San Diego. Then he added 24 points in an OT win over Prairie.

CAILEE MARTIN, RIDGEFIELD GIRLS WRESTLING: Martin won the 118-pound division at the Elma Tournament.

LINDSEY WILLIS, PRAIRIE GYMNASTICS: Wells won the bars, beam and floor exercise to win all-around with score of 36.5 in a meet with Heritage, Evergreen and Hudson's Bay.
