Letter: What are the results?

I read with interest your Jan. 21 editorial, “An Education in Homelessness — Serving these students costly to school districts, a potential bargain for society,” regarding the federal mandate to address the issue of educating kids who are homeless. I was surprised to learn that it dated all the way back to 1987.

You outlined the challenges and the costs associated with the effort, but I saw nothing regarding the results of this program. Is anyone tracking the results of this significant investment? Are the efforts reaping any significant benefits to those that we are attempting to help?
