Letter: Solution to gun control that works

The Columbian
Published: July 21, 2014, 12:00am

The ideal solution to the gun control problem is the Kennesaw, Ga., solution. In 1982, the town passed an ordinance requiring every head of household to have a gun. Hysterical liberals shrieked that it would result in more gun violence. However, as predicted by more sensible people, the crime rate has dropped 89 percent and has remained low. Switzerland also has high gun ownership, resulting in it having one of the lowest crime rates.

If liberals were really interested in reducing crime (which they apparently are not) they would join with others to pass a law requiring every head of a household in America to have a gun and ammunition for it like they did in Kennesaw, Ga., and then we would see a sharp decrease in crime nationwide.

However, gun control is the prime weapon of tyrannical governments. First it’s background checks resulting in registration of guns, then it’s confiscation of guns. Finally, it’s concentration camps for disarmed political opponents.
