Vancouver — The Army batteries that gave the Artillery Barracks its name will be the topic of Friday’s military history talk.

Jack Giesen will discuss the 2nd U.S. Field Artillery at this month’s Vancouver Barracks Military Association presentation.

The free talk will be at 6 p.m. at the 40 et 8 Chateau, 7607 N.E. 26th Ave., on the south side of 78th Street about a mile east of Interstate 5.

It has been more than a century since units from the 2nd U.S. Field Artillery were stationed at Vancouver Barracks, said Giesen, a retired Army master sergeant.

The Artillery Barracks were the home of six batteries — Battery A through F — when they were stationed at Vancouver Barracks.
