Letter: Do something to address crisis

The Columbian
Published: June 15, 2014, 5:00pm

Thank you for the June 11 editorial “We are better than this.” Indeed it is time we put a stop to the madness of gun violence against our schools, our children and our dedicated teachers. Seventy-four attacks on our schools since the Newtown, Conn., school massacre and still our representatives do nothing.

Congresswoman Jaime Herrera Beutler, R-Camas, who enjoys an “A” rating from the National Rifle Association, has had ample opportunity to address this crisis and has failed miserably. She has made clear through her inaction that her priority is the gun lobby.

The editorial is right, it is “shameful that we don’t even try” to end this horror. Allow me to add my voice, shame on you Congresswoman Herrera Beutler.
