Keenan Burris’ 200th win as coach of the boys soccer team at Evergreen High School appropriately came via shutout.

When the Plainsmen beat Battle Ground 3-0 on Friday, Burris reached the 200-win milestone. He has been the head coach at Evergreen, where he played high school soccer, since 1998. Strong defense has been a cornerstone of Burris’ program.

Burris said the many players who have played soccer at Evergreen deserve the credit for the milestone, and for keeping the job fun for 17 seasons.

“It’s the ultimate blast,” Burris said of coaching. “I’ve had a lot of fun. I’ve had the opportunity to coach a lot of talented young men.”

Ruvim Primachenko and Max Satre scored unassisted goals in the first half, and Estacio Coronel converted a penalty kick in the second half in the win over Battle Ground.

Burris, who is also the athletic director for Evergreen, has had 13 winning seasons in 17 years as Plainsmen soccer coach. His overall record is 200-80-22.

His second team, in 1999, went 18-1-1, the only loss coming to Pasco, 2-1, in the Class 4A state championship match. His 2001 team placed third at state.
