Prep girls tennis: Hampton, Baba, Skyview repeat as champs

Skyview’s Sammi Hampton, the defending 4A state tennis singles champion, added a third 4A district title to her collection with a 6-0, 6-1 win over Camas’ Esther Kwon at Vancouver Tennis Center on Saturday.

Also adding to its title collection, Skyview won its ninth consecutive team title.

Kwon will play Union’s Tess Belindean for second place on Monday.

Jen Lewis and Hannah Gianan of Camas won the doubles title, defeating Jelena Vidovic and Sydney Wallace of Union 6-2, 6-1.

3A district — Prairie’s Akari Baba won her second consecutive singles title with a 6-3, 6-4 win over Fort Vancouver’s Angelina Polina.

Mountain View’s doubles team of Amila Gogalija and Milla Benedetti defeated defending district champs Ashley Osler and Alex Wilmington of Columbia River 4-6, 7-5, 6-2. Gogalija and Benedetti were down 5-2 in the second set before coming back for the win.

Columbia River captured the team title by outdistancing Prairie 32-24.
