Book-loving artists design great markers

Fort Vancouver Library District — Five talented young artists who are also book lovers are the winners of the district’s 2014 Summer Reading Bookmark Contest. Their bookmark designs will be printed and distributed during the June-through-August summer reading program. Of 2,331 entries, the grand prize winners and their grade levels and home libraries are:

o Kindergarten-first: Grace Henning, White Salmon Valley Community Library.

o Second-third: Betty Lou Nelson, White Salmon Valley Community Library.

o Fourth-fifth: Erika Holden, Ridgefield Community Library.

o Sixth-eighth: Joymae Capps, The Mall Library Connection.

o Ninth-12th: Sarah May, The Mall Library Connection.

Approximately 20,000 full-color copies of the winning bookmarks will be distributed throughout the district’s 16 locations and two bookmobiles. The winning designs are posted on the Kids and Teens pages of the library website, www.fvrl.org.
