Heritage High School Principal Mark Ross has been tapped as Battle Ground’s new assistant superintendent for teaching and learning.

Interim Battle Ground Superintendent Duane Rose and incoming Superintendent Mark Hottowe announced the news Thursday, subject to school board approval Saturday.

Ross will oversee the coordination of curriculum, staff development, and state and federal programs in the district.

Ross is expected to take over July 1 for Assistant Superintendent Marcia Christian, who will retire after 38 years with the district.

Ross was previously the executive director of secondary learning in the Evergreen school district and the assistant superintendent of teaching and learning in the Washougal School District.
