Abortion foes protest at Fort Vancouver High School

Protesters carrying signs with graphic images of aborted fetuses stood on the public sidewalk in front of Fort Vancouver High School on Wednesday. They plan to be there all week.

On Tuesday, Vancouver Public Schools sent an automated phone message to Fort Vancouver families from Principal Scott Parker. He said: “We want to make you aware that a local pro-life organization will be demonstrating with graphic images and signs in front of our school this week. This demonstration is not sponsored or endorsed by Fort Vancouver High School or Vancouver Public Schools. The group, which frequently targets local area schools, has a legal right to demonstrate on public property. Because the safety of our students is a priority, we will have district resource officers on-site to ensure that the demonstrators do not come onto school property.”

Last school year, the same group protested outside Cascade Middle School, Evergreen High School and others. As Parker’s letter to parents states, the group has a legal right to demonstrate on public property.
