There is a simple solution to all these people claiming that police are using excessive force. Even though you think you have done nothing wrong, police saw something that got their attention or they received a call about a possible crime being committed, so you need to do exactly what they tell you. Whatever the command, do exactly what the officer asks. They are the authority figure in any situation where they’re present.
It’s not going to hurt to put your hands in the air, and your clothes will wash if you get dirty getting on the ground. Just do exactly what you are told and there would be no use of force to get control of the situation. Once they have control, then and only then can police safely assess the situation. If a person does not comply with commands, the police have no choice but to take control.
There have been way too many times when our law enforcement officers have been injured or killed by someone who doesn’t do what they are told. They have only a split second to make a decision as to how to handle any given situation. To our law enforcement officers: Keep up the good work. For what it’s worth, I stand behind you 100 percent.
