The YWCA Clark County has received a $3,000 grant from Verizon’s HopeLine program.

HopeLine collects used wireless phones, batteries and accessories, sells them, and gives the proceeds to programs that focus on domestic violence prevention and awareness, such as the Y.

In 2013, the YWCA Clark County’s “SafeChoice” domestic violence hotline received 15,091 calls. Services including advocacy, safety planning, information and referrals, support groups, shelter and legal advocacy were provided to 793 new individuals. More than 6,600 bed nights were provided at the Y’s SafeChoice domestic violence shelter, and awareness presentations in the community reached 2,408 individuals.

HopeLine phone donations are accepted at all Verizon stores across the nation. Visit www.verizonwireless.com/hopeline for more information.
