Friday night’s trick-or-treaters can keep safe this Halloween with some tips for parents from the Vancouver Police Department.

• Are trick-or-treaters coming to your house? Make sure your yard and sidewalk are clear and that the house is well-lit, both inside and out.

• Kids should trick or treat in groups, and younger kids should be accompanied by adults.

• Have a plan in case your child gets separated from the group.

• Remind children to never enter a stranger’s house or car.

• Check the locations of level III sex offenders living in the city by visiting www.cityofvancouver.us/police/page/level-iii-sex-offenders-registered-city-vancouver.

• After the night’s over, look over all the collected candy at home. Be wary of anything that’s not factory wrapped or sealed.

• Report anything suspicious to 911. If someone makes a child feel uncomfortable, they should yell ‘No!’ and run away.
