Letter: Most overdoses from prescriptions

Mary A. Gunther’s comment in her April 10 letter “Marijuana crop at bottom of priority,” about the water use on marijuana crops, is no more than opinion and should furthermore be forgotten. Most trees and shrubs, which marijuana is, use only a portion of water while the green, manicured golf courses and the neighborhoods that allow fertilizers and pesticides on top of the gallons of water make up most of the water use.

Regarding her comment that “there are many medicines that alleviate pain prescribed by doctors,” let me nourish you with the facts on prescription meds that doctors prescribe — they make up for over 50 percent of deaths from overdoses every year.
