Reilly Whitlock made a 6-foot par putt on the first sudden death hole to lift Union to the title in the Titan Cup girls golf tournament on Monday at Tri-Mountain Golf Course.

The extra hole was needed after Camas and Union split six head-to-head matches. Karsyn Rushing, Union’s No. 4 player, provided a key win in that match.

Whitlock and Rushing teamed to win their morning alternate-shot match as the Titans beat Prairie 2½-½. Taylor Hartley of Union also won her singles match against Camas and teamed with Alicia Kwon for an alternate-shot win against Prairie.

For Camas, Rio Smith had a good day. She won her singles match and teamed with Hailey Oster to help the Papermakers defeat Hockinson 2-1 in the alternate-stroke match.

This is the third time in four years that the Titan Cup has been decided with a playoff.

Stars of the day

• Avery Honaker, Hudson’s Bay tennis, outlasted Mia Patrick from Columbia River at No. 2 singles in a match that lasted 3 hours and 45 minutes. Honaker won 4-6, 6-4, 7-6 (5). The Chieftains won the dual meet 5-1.

• Connor Culp, Union boys soccer, scored in overtime off an assist from Masaki Rhodes to lift the Titans to a 2-1 win over Mountain View.

• Brady Whalen, Union baseball, had three hits, including a home run, and drove in four runs in a win over Evergreen.

• Riley Brannon, Camas boys soccer, scored two second-half goals as the Papermakers put away visiting Heritage 4-1.

• Bridget Guiney, Prairie softball, had two hits including a home run in a non-league win at Centralia.
