Letter: Supreme Court fails on moral issue

The Columbian

The decision by the U.S. Supreme Court to legalize same-sex marriage is a victory for later immigrants. It is a defeat for those who have deep roots in the U.S. and have high principles. The court today consists of Jews and Catholics. There is not a single Protestant Christian on the court, even though they founded the U.S. and wrote the Constitution. Later immigrants are imposing their cultural standards and misinterpreting the Constitution.

The fact that gays are born with their abnormality is no justification. Justice Anthony Kennedy, in his majority opinion, said that dignity should be extended to gays. It is wrong to extend dignity to those doing something perverted and immoral. The gay lifestyle deserves no respect.

The Founding Fathers were mostly from Protestant denominations and similar to Baptist. If the court today consisted of Baptists and others similar to the founders, not only would same-sex marriage be illegal, so would the gay lifestyle. Later immigrants on the court have done something that is ethically equivalent to theft. They have stolen precious American values.
