Girls basketball: Ridgefield 43, Seton Catholic 21

Ridgefield’s shooting was off but its defense was spot-on.

Despite shooting 14 for 56 from the field, the Spudders clamped down on visiting Seton Catholic to improve to 4-1.

“We had a ton of effort,” Ridgefield coach Tom Klutz said. “It was great from that standpoint.”

Ridgefield trailed 8-5 after the first quarter then allowed only 13 points the rest of the game.

Sarah Jenkins and Sydney Hooghkirk each scored 10 points for Ridgefield.

Elizabeth Sheldon scored 12 points for Seton Catholic (4-2).
