The Skyview girls basketball team survived an early start and Southridge’s pressure defense to win its first round game of the Nike Interstate Shootout, 46-44, at Lake Oswego on Sunday morning.

“We struggled with their press and turned the ball over quite a bit,” Skyview coach Jennifer Buscher said of her team’s first half. “But we came back and battled. It was a good game.”

Skyview trailed 27-21 at the half, and cut the Southridge lead to 35-32 after three quarters.

Kirsten Johnson made a 3-pointer in the fourth quarter to tie the game and then another to seal the win for Skyview (5-1).

Ashlee Comastro lead the Storm in scoring with 13 points, and Maddie Lord had 14 rebounds.

Skyview advances to play South Salem at 3:30 p.m. Monday.
