Battle Ground police arrested two men Monday night after a high-speed hit-and-run crash that damaged multiple vehicles and yards.

Around 9:15 p.m., a white truck traveling about 80 mph in a 25 mph zone hit a vehicle on West Main Street at Southwest Fifth Avenue, near Battle Ground High School, according to police.

An officer who witnessed the crash pursued the truck when it sped away.

The truck hit other vehicles and, according to a witness, drove through yards and between homes near Rasmussen Boulevard.

A few minutes later, the truck crashed into Woodin Creek at the end of Southwest Sixth Circle in a residential area. Two people in the truck ran away from the vehicle, according to the Battle Ground Police Department.

Battle Ground officers, along with sheriff’s deputies, Vancouver police and state troopers, swarmed the area and used police dogs to capture the suspects.

Andrew Scott Bissell, 29, a transient, and Scott William Thomas, 25, of Rainier, Ore., were booked into the Clark County Jail on suspicion of possessing a stolen vehicle, hit-and-run with property damage and attempting to elude police.

The 1989 white Nissan truck was reported stolen in Oregon. It was towed from the creek bed and placed into evidence.
