A Battle Ground man was killed Saturday when his car left the road and crashed into a tree while exiting westbound state Highway 14 to southbound Interstate 205.

The man, identified as Eric J. Draper, 43, was not wearing a seat belt, according to a Washington State Patrol crash memo.

Draper’s 2013 Acura ILX left the roadway through the gore point and traveled up an embankment before hitting the tree head on, according to the State Patrol.

The crash occurred shortly before 11 a.m.

Troopers said speed was a factor in the crash.
