Fircrest — Five employees from Audigy Group, a Vancouver-based medical and audiology management company, joined the Starkey Hearing Foundation on a five-day mission in late January to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, to fit locals with hearing aids. “It’s really an incredible experience,” said senior marketing coordinator Charity Leitz, who added that she fitted everyone from children to older folks with hearing aids. She’ll never forget the way an elderly gentleman smiled and cried as he heard his wife’s voice for the first time in more than a decade, she said. The group fitted more than 800 people with hearing aids, according to Audigy. “Everyone’s just really grateful that you’ve come to where they are, and you’re giving them this gift of hearing,” Leitz said.
