For the second time in the span of a week, a high-ranking Washougal schools official has announced plans to leave the district.

On Tuesday, the district informed the media that Business Manager Brian Wallace plans to step down by May 1. Wallace came to Washougal in July 2013, and he’s leaving to start a job with the Coeur d’Alene (Idaho) School District this spring.

The announcement came just seven days after Superintendent Dawn Tarzian told the Washougal school board she plans to retire in June, when her contract expires.

In his brief stint with the administration, Wallace ushered in a more open budget process, Tarzian said in a press release. Meanwhile, Wallace’s family stayed in Idaho.

“We are sorry to lose Brian, but understand that this opportunity in Coeur d’Alene will support his personal goals to live and work in the same community,” Tarzian said.

Applications to fill Wallace’s position are due to the district by 4 p.m. on March 5. They are available at www.washougal.tedk12.com/hire/index.aspx. More information about the job is listed under a posting on the main page of the district’s website.
