Letter: Offended by cartoon’s implication

The Columbian
Published: February 19, 2015, 12:00am

Yet another cheap shot is made at public education and the teachers and staff who work in the public school setting. I refer specifically to the Feb. 12 cartoon published by The Columbian on Page D4 titled “Bizarro.” It is depicting a man on a street corner holding a sign saying “Please Help. Can only afford basic cable, American cars and public schools.”

Both my wife and I are retired teachers who spent 30-plus years in public education and we take offense with that cartoon. Maybe the last line on the sign should have said The Columbian.

Oh yeah, and I drive Fords.

I’m disgusted.
