Girls basketball: Columbia River 65, Black Hills 48

Megan Bloom scored 15 of her 17 points in the fourth quarter as the host Chieftains knocked off a tough Class 2A team.

The Class 3A Chieftains improved to 10-1 by beating the No. 6 team in the 2A Associated Press statewide poll.

Amara Moore came off the bench to score eight points and grab a team-high 7 rebounds. She helped put the game away by making 5 of 6 free throws in the fourth quarter.

“We battled hard on the boards against much bigger kids,” River coach Carl Click said. “It was just hustle and effort. We forced a lot of turnovers with our press.
