Girls basketball: Woodland 50, Washougal 38

A fast start helped the host Beavers sink the Panthers in a Class 2A Greater St. Helens League game. Woodland (4-5, 2-1 GSHL) led by 19 points at halftime after scoring 36 in the first half.

Jessica Flanagan led a balanced Woodland offense with nine points, seven rebounds, five assists and four steals.

Sidra Malik added eight points and five assists. Amber Malik had eight points and four steals.

“It was a balanced attack, which is what we try to do,” Woodland coach Glen Flanagan said. “We’re not going to have a single player score 20 on most nights.”

Alyssa Blankenship had nine points to lead Washougal (8-2, 2-1).
