Letter: Interchange by mailer ineffective

I have received a four-question mailer in which Rep. Jaime Herrera Beutler, R-Camas, requested our personal thoughts on four critical issues. To be honest, my thoughts are that they are meaningless and without substance. This type of communication is hot air and smacks of stroking the citizens. If Herrera Beutler has any alternatives or superior offerings, let’s hear them.

Take a good look at what has happened with generic drugs; most have risen all of a sudden and tripled in price. This is where we need her congressional expertise, not redundant general questions with secure answers. Also, she should try to push for Medicare Part D to be able to negotiate pharmaceutical pricing on a competitive basis, as Veterans Affairs has for years.

Good government is getting legislation for the betterment of citizens and a secure quality of life. As a congressional delegate, Herrera Beutler has pretty much rubber-stamped the Republican Party in every move they have dictated, without thought of her constituents and their well-being.

I hope to see more compassion in the future and a true movement to help the citizens of Southwest Washington. If Herrera Beutler is unable to accomplish this, then she has not only failed all of us, she has failed herself as a trusted congresswoman.
