Jessica Cox, who was born without arms and went on to become a licensed pilot, will be the special guest from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Pearson Field Education Center.

The weekly aviation education program is at the center’s facility at Pearson Field, 210A East Reserve St. in Vancouver.

With no arms, Cox used her feet to live independently, graduate from the University of Arizona and earn two black belts in martial arts.

On guinnessworldrecords.com, Cox is cited as the first woman to fly an airplane with her feet, guiding the steering column with one foot and using the other foot to handle the controls.

She also learned to swim, drive a car, surf and scuba dive using only her feet.

The 31-year-old motivational speaker shares her story at her website, www.rightfooted.com.

The Pearson Field Education Center is an educational program of the Fort Vancouver National Trust. Its hangar is just northeast of the Aero Maintenance Flight Center at the Vancouver airport.

Free Saturday afternoon activities include glider building, a flight simulator lab, a vertical wind tunnel and open cockpit sessions. To learn more, visit www.fortvan.org/AviationEducation or call 360-992-1815.
