Alan Gottlieb, founder of Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms, said the new open-carry rules in the Statehouse are “the result of a few stupid extremists on our side who not only handled their firearms unsafely, but made hundreds of Second Amendment supporters at the rally look foolish,” and, “Irresponsible actions get us bad results. This kind of childish theater hurts our cause.”
Who would’ve thought being able to walk into a gun show and buy a gun wouldn’t automatically make a person responsible, and not foolish.
At the pro open-carry rally, Rep. Liz Pike, R-Camas, said to her “fellow patriots” it was time to get “the government off our backs, off our guns, off our property and out of our health care.” The Columbian picture showed a group of good old boys and girls, wearing flannel and ball caps, waving their guns. I wonder, if instead there was a group of young Americans of Middle Eastern descent waving AK-47s, would she have stood among them praising their patriotism, or would she have been hiding under her desk, concealed weapon drawn?
