The Portland Metro Bomb Squad was dispatched to the Clark County Courthouse on Sunday afternoon to investigate a suspicious object next to the courthouse, according to the Clark County Sheriff’s Office.

The bomb squad determined that the object was not explosive and did not pose a threat to the public or property, according to a news release from the sheriff’s office. The object turned out to be a box that had been placed over part of the sprinkler system at the courthouse to protect the sprinklers from cold weather, according to the sheriff’s office.

Police blocked off several downtown Vancouver streets near the courthouse for a few hours while the bomb squad responded.
