The Vancouver Lake Watershed Partnership will meet today to discuss the future management of its namesake ecosystem.

The meeting will include a presentation from the Lower Columbia Estuary Partnership, a nonprofit that has proposed taking on a larger role in advocating and caring for the lake.

The Vancouver Lake partnership has spent recent months discussing its own future, as local agreements that formed the group are set to expire. Members have explored joining forces with the Lower Columbia Estuary Partnership, among other options. The Vancouver Lake group was created in 2004; it’s primarily funded by Clark County, the city of Vancouver and the Port of Vancouver.

Today’s meeting will begin at 4 p.m. in the Port of Vancouver offices, 3103 N.W. Lower River Road.
