Letter: Prohibition on some pot sales unfair

The Columbian
Published: July 8, 2015, 12:00am

The July 3 front page of The Columbian featured a big bust of a marijuana grower for selling directly to the public. The law that legalizes the use and sale of marijuana in Washington specifically prohibits growers selling to the public. The law was a voter initiative and that provision is why I voted against it.

Like apple growers, marijuana growers should be able to get a retail license and sell directly to the guy who is going to use his produce. The fact that selling marijuana without a license is a felony while selling apples without a license is not is a grave injustice.

Let’s get another voter initiative going and remove this injustice. Let’s not be afraid of marijuana and let’s not mandate a wholesaler in a market where none is needed.
