A Battle Ground man is under investigation in an alleged assault Thursday at Portland International Raceway that resulted in the death of an Oregon man, according to the Portland Police Bureau.

Michael T. Taylor, 50, was originally arrested on suspicion of fourth-degree assault in connection with an incident that seriously injured Anthony Mancuso, 61.

Mancuso since died of his injuries, a Portland Police Bureau bulletin said.

“The Portland Police Bureau Detective Division continues to investigate this incident,” the bureau said in a bulletin Friday night. “The original charges against … Michael Taylor have been dismissed pending a grand jury.”

Police were called to the raceway at 8:17 p.m. during Thursday Night Motocross.

Any witnesses — in particular, anyone with video of the incident — was asked to contact Detective Mark Slater at 503-823-9319 or mark.slater@portlandoregon.gov, or Detective Erik Kammerer at 503-823-0762 or erik.kammerer@portlandoregon.gov.
