SPOKANE (AP) — Spokane police said Wednesday they are looking for additional possible sexual assault victims of a former Pasco police officer who has been arrested in the slaying of a woman in 1986.

Richard Aguirre, 51, was arrested Tuesday in the Tri-Cities and taken to the Spokane County Jail, where he is being held on a charge of first-degree murder.

At a news conference Wednesday, Spokane Police Captain Eric Olsen said investigators have seized many of Aguirre’s electronic devices and that information on those devices leads detectives to believe there are additional sexual assault victims, KHQ-TV reported.

Aguirre is charged in the 1986 slaying of Ruby Doss, a prostitute.

He was arrested based on a recent DNA analysis that arose from an unrelated rape case in the Tri-Cities. Aguirre has pleaded not guilty in that case.

Olsen said his department has served five search warrants in the Pasco area in the past month. Following a search of Aguirre’s home, investigators found a large number of recordings of sex acts that they said could lead to future sex crime and voyeurism charges.

Olsen said police have identified some potential victims and are trying to determine if the acts were consensual or recorded without the knowledge of the other person. He urged any victims to come forward.

Aguirre is a 27-year veteran of the Pasco Police Department and has no criminal history.

He lived near Spokane when he was stationed at Fairchild Air Force Base from 1984 to 1988.
