A man was shot by a Woodland police officer early Sunday morning after the Woodland Police Department responded to a call about a person who was armed.

Officers were dispatched at about 2 a.m. to the 700 block of Third Street in Woodland, the police department said in a news release. An police officer confronted the man and “ultimately responded by firing his duty weapon, killing the subject,” according to the news release.

The name of the man who was killed was not released by police Sunday. He was 58 years old and white, the department said.

Police didn’t release any additional information Sunday but said more details about the incident likely will be revealed Monday.
