A man who possessed thousands of images of child pornography was sentenced Friday to 43 months in prison.

Patrick Wayne Martin, 33, previously pleaded guilty in Clark County Superior Court to three counts of second-degree possession of depictions of a minor engaged in sexually explicit conduct.

Martin initially faced 11 counts. In an agreement with the prosecution, he changed his pleas to guilty in exchange for some of the charges being dismissed.

He apologized Friday for downloading the child pornography and said he would never do it again.

Judge Suzan Clark told him he has a serious problem that doesn’t just go away. She said it “disturbs” her that he tried to diminish the severity of his actions.

Martin was additionally sentenced to 17 months of community custody. He was given credit for 134 days served.
