Port of Vancouver to cut ribbon on new bike path segment

Walkers, cyclists, skateboarders and other non-motorists are welcome to come celebrate the Tuesday morning opening of a new half-mile pedestrian path segment along Lower River Road. The segment, which is paved and separated from the street, extends a safe pedestrian route from downtown Vancouver to the Port of Vancouver offices on Lower River Road.

The port means to continue extending the path, segment by segment, until it connects with an existing path between Vancouver Lake and Frenchman’s Bar Regional Park.

But a strong show of enthusiasm and support will help the port get the grant money it needs to continue the work, they’ve said. So the port is hoping lots of path users will ride or walk out to the ribbon-cutting, 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at ABC Plastics, 2801 N.W. Lower River Road (east of the port’s administrative building).
