Prep highlights: Freshman rallies River boys to 3-2 win

Ryan Connop scored two second-half goals to rally the Columbia River boys soccer team to a 3-2 non-league win over R.A. Long in the season openers for both teams Saturday in Longview.

Rafiq DeJesus’ goal gave River an early 1-0 lead. But the Lumberjacks scored twice to take a 2-1 lead into the intermission.

Connop tied the match with an assist by Alex Nielson.

The freshman forward put River ahead with 14 minutes left with an assist by Cody Schoene.

Camas 5, Prairie 0 — Jakob Calvin had a goal and an assist as Camas opened its season with a 5-0 non-league win at Prairie.

Danny Wing, Bennett Lehner, Tyler Vela and Cameron Eyman each added goals.

Mount Si 2, Union 1 — Connor Culp scored the Titans’ lone goal as Union finished its season-opening weekend in the Seattle-area with a win and a loss.

Evergreen 0, Eastlake 0 — Goalkeepers Enrique Bermundez and Alfredo Plascencia combined on a shutout for the Plainsmen.

Mountain View 5, Kelso 1 — Ahmon Afenegus scored two goals and Will Warne added two assists as the Thunder opened the season with a home win.
