A nine-run fifth inning highlighted a season-opening 14-4 win on Thursday for the Columbia River baseball team at Jesuit of Beaverton.
The Chieftains had eight hits in the decisive inning, all of them singles.
Garrett McKee was 4 for 4 with a double and three RBI to lead a 16-hit attack for River.
Jace McKinney was 3 for 3, Alex McGarry 4 for 5 and Jake Ebery 3 for 4.
The big inning came after Jesuit took a 3-1 lead with three runs in the bottom of the fourth inning.

• Eli Whitmire, Woodland boys track and field, won four events — the 100 (11.06), 200 (23.36) long jump (20-6) and triple jump (42-6) as the Beavers hosted a five-team meet.
• Julia Stepper, Woodland girls track and field, won three events — the 100 (13.0), 200 (26.65) and long jump (15-1) as the Beavers won a five-team meet in Woodland.
• Taylor Hartley, Union girls golf, shot a 2-under-par 34 at Camas Meadows as the Titans beat Woodland. That is a school record. The team also set a school record with a 151 total. Reilly Whitlcock shot a 37.
• Elise Filuk, Camas girls golf, shot an even-par 36 at the Cedars as Camas beat Prairie.
• Kayla Moore, Skyview softball, pitched a one-hit shutout with three strikeouts as the Storm beat Ridgefield 6-0.
• Austin Lauser and Connor Gilrow, King’s Way boys soccer, each scored twice for the Knights in a 4-4 draw with Tenino.
• Katie Schroeder, Camas softball, struck out 13 ina 5-1 win over R.A. Long.
