Letter: Boondoggle of a mess in the making

A March 20 story reported, “Bus rapid transit clears big hurdle.” What a boondoggle this BRT is going to be with Fourth Plain being one of the busiest streets in Vancouver and no alternative route. It will be a disaster to all the businesses along the route — all because C-Tran Executive Director Jeff Hamm wants to make a name for himself.

With the mismanagement of C-Tran ($5 million e-Fare system deal with TriMet they can’t get out of) and now $53 million of taxpayer money for this boondoggle, the good old boys and girls on the board still give Hamm a $14,000 raise — maybe they should all resign. But if C-Tran has all this extra money to spend, then just maybe they are collecting too much from the tax base. So if you agree, next time they think they need more, vote it down.

I sure am glad Jeanne Stewart was there with her good common sense as she is the only one on the C-Tran board with any. I remember when she was a member of Vancouver City Council, she was for the people and the only one for the people. Now that she won a Clark County council seat, I am sure glad because she represents Clark County and will do a great job.
