Vancouver police are investigating reports that a vandal burned and attempted to burn flags hanging on homes in the Shumway neighborhood.
Police Cpl. Duane Boynton said the department received two or three reports Saturday morning that flags were damaged overnight. One incident occurred in the 3500 block of G Street, according to a dispatch log.
One resident of the area told officers he had surveillance video that showed a hooded figure unsuccessfully attempting to burn his flag with a lighter, Boynton said. That video will be reviewed.
