Highlights of the ongoing exhibits and attractions around town

Lan Su Chinese Garden, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily. 239 N.W. Everett St., Portland; $9.50, $8.50 for seniors, $7 for students, $28 family pass, free for children 5 and younger. Covering a city block in Portland’s Old Town Chinatown, the garden features more than 30,000 plant species and year-round cultural events, activities and demonstrations. • Asian-Pacific American Heritage Month, through May 31. The garden celebrates the cultural month with performances every Saturday and Sunday at 2 p.m.

• Cuisines of China, June 1-30. Learn about the various culinary traditions of China with cooking demonstrations 2:30 p.m. every Thursday, Saturday and Sunday.

• Early Fabric Making features a working rug loom which uses selvage wool from Pendleton Woolen Mill. Also on display are sewing machines, spinning wheels, wool-carding tools and blankets.

• Displays of artifacts, photographs and oral histories on local education, businesses and home life. Native American baskets are also on display. Genealogy and historic research is also available. The restored Carriage House features a blacksmith shop and tools.

Water Resources Education Center, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays through Fridays; noon to 5 p.m. Saturdays. 4600 S.E. Columbia Way, Vancouver; free.
