The King’s Way Christian girls soccer team had several things going for them on Saturday entering the 1A district title match at Montesano.

The Knights had already clinched a spot in the 1A state tournament, were unbeaten, and had never trailed all season.

So when the Knights found themselves down 2-1 at halftime to Montesano, it was a new experience.

It turned out fine as MacKenzie Ellertson scored her third goal of the match with four minutes left to play as the Knights won the district title 3-2.

“It was definitely a shock for the team. We had to rally together,” Ellertson said. “It was a competely different game. We just stayed composed.”

Ellertson scored the first goal of the match, and then her shot with 14 minutes to play tied the game at 2-2.

Ellertson said the Knights will take a lot of confidence with them to state.

“(We learned) no matter the score, we can comeback,” she said.

SETON CATHOLIC 5, EATONVILLE 2 — Three goals by Tiana Scruggs and two from Missica Derhalli advanced Seton to the 1A state tournament for the first time.

Seton lead 3-1 at halftime as Elizabeth Sheldon assisted on two of the goals.

Megan McDaid-O’Neill and Scruggs had second half assists.

4A bi-district

ISSAQUAH 5, UNION 0 — Issaquah scored three goals on well-placed shots in the final 15 minutes of the first half to take the lead, and ended Union’s season.

The Titans, the second seed into the bi-district round from the 4A Greater St. Helens League, finished 14-4-2.

“They’re a quality team,” Union coach Kelcey Burris said of Issaquah. “The kids played hard. I couldn’t be more proud of the effort they gave.”

3A bi-district

COLUMBIA RIVER 4, ENUMCLAW 0 — The Chieftains punched their ticket to state with the win over Enumclaw at Burien.

Ellie Walker scored three goals, Alexis Dettling had a goal, and Emma Fisk made three saves to perserve the shutout.

SUMNER 2, PRAIRIE 0 — Sumner scored a goal 45 seconds into the match, and added a second goal with 15:45 to play to win the 3A bi-district championship match at Sunset Chev Stadium in Sumner.

Both teams advance to the 3A state tournament. Pairings will be announced Sunday by the WIAA.
