Youth football teams from as far away as Alaska will converge on Doc Harris Stadium in Camas on Saturday for regional championship games.

Six games are scheduled during the Pop Warner Football Pacific Northwest Region North Division finals. The winners advance to the Pop Warner Super Bowl tournament in Florida. The runners-up go to the Best of the West tournament in San Diego.

Admission, good for all games, is $10.

Two teams representing East Vancouver Pop Warner have reached the regional finals in the Pee Wee Division for ages 9-11. The East Vancouver Venom Charcoal team will take on the Spokane Valley Lions at 4 p.m. for the Pee Wee Division II regional title.

At 10 a.m., the East Vancouver Venom Blue will play for the Pee Wee Division III regional crown against the Spokane North Chargers.

The day kicks off at 8 a.m. with a Junior Pee Wee (ages 8-10) Division III game between the West Albany (Ore.) Bulldogs and the Spokane Titans.

At noon, the Division III Junior Midget (ages 10-12) title game will feature the Kenai (Alaska) Soldotna Saints against the Spokane-North Falcons.

At 2 p.m., the Division II Junior Pee Wee game will feature two Washington teams as the Central Cascades Hawks of Wenatchee play the Kelso Junior Hilanders.

At 6 p.m., the Division II Junior Midget game features the West Albany (Ore.) Bulldogs against the Spokane Valley Bengals.

First-round playoff games took place Nov. 14 and 15 at Oregon State University in Corvallis, and the East Vancouver Venom Pee Wee teams both advanced with wins. In Division II Pee Wee, the Venom Charcoal beat the Mid-Valley Bulldogs 18-0 in a battle between two unbeaten teams. In the Division III Pee Wee game, the Venom Blue beat the South Salem Saxons 32-20.

In the Junior Pee Wee age group first-round games, the Kelso Junior Hilanders beat the Sprague Olympians in a Division II game. In the Division III Junior Pee Wee game, the Portland Steelers beat the West Albany Bulldogs, but the Bulldogs advanced because the Steelers were short of the minimum 16 players in uniform.

The Pacific Northwest region includes Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Alaska, Northern California and Northern Nevada. This season, Pop Warner separated Northern California and Nevada into its own Super Bowl qualification tournament.

CCRC Turkey Trot is Saturday

The Clark County Running Club will hold its popular 5-kilometer Turkey Trot run at 10 a.m. Saturday at Marine Park in Vancouver.

Participants will have a chance to win a turkey.

The club held 3-mile and 6-mile races on Nov. 14 at Salmon Creek Regional Park. Results of those races are in the Community Sports Scoreboard.

Women’s tackle football tryouts

Tryouts for a Portland area women’s tackle football team will be held on Saturday at Milwaukie High School.
